URBAN DANCE OR URBAN DANCE is a musical genre that was born between the mid and late 1960s when mainly African-American musicians fused soul, jazz, Latin rhythms (mambo, for example) and R&B giving rise to a new rhythmic and danceable musical form.
Funky refers to dance styles that are danced primarily to funk music. More specifically, they can be used for a group of street dance styles that originated in California in the 1970s, primarily pop and block. One of the reasons the term funk styles first appeared was to give these dances their own identity and prevent them from being primarily associated with hip hop and breakdancing.
