History of Dance
It was in the Renaissance, with the break of the obscurantism of the Middle Ages, where the Dance plunged into a new splendor hand in hand with the cultural explosion that developed in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Patronage, courts and the great masters of dance and music were the main promoters of dance at the social level. This new way allowed artistic studies to be developed by intellectuals who advocated for a new resurgence of Greek theater, where interpretation, music and dance will be developed together.
It was Baltasar Beauyeulx, with the support of Catalina de Medici, who created the first expressions of the ballet that would be performed in the court in 1581 with a very stylized staging. Later, the Sun King, Louis XIV of France, allowed the creation of the Royal Academy of Dance in 1661. All this raised the ballet to become a professional artistic discipline. Feullie creates, in 1700, a dance notation system, reaching to capture almost 400 choreographies. This dance regulation will lead to Classical Dance.
From here arises the romantic dance that revolves around folk dances. But the greatest evolution came from the hand of classical dance. With its own costumes and music composed expressly, the ballet acquired a lot of strength in the Modern Age. In the nineteenth century the ballet carries its representations of idealization to the dancer and the struggle between the earthly and the spiritual. As examples we have The Ballet of the nuns (1831), Giselle (1841), The Swan Lake (1895), etc.
In the twentieth century, the Great War has caused a disruption of values in art. Artistic expressions become more individual. On the other hand, the main artistic exponents promote the emergence of a new rebirth of ballet in Russia.
With the arrival of the 1920s, the gradual liberation of women and the rejection of the stylized movements of the ballet led to the creation of dances in which freedom of movement predominates as an expression.
The influence of Caribbean, African and Latin music brought with it the creation of dances such as samba, rumba or tango.
From the 1950s of the 1950s dances began to emerge with an twist and freestyle.
dance has had a long journey throughout our history, From remote caves to modern academies. Because throughout history we see how all the types of dance They have evolved to the point of professionalization and that their execution depends a lot Of a good professional training, either for dance more folkloric, the classical dance or the contemporary dance.
