¿What is Jazz?
Lyrical Jazz is a modern dance form that fuses modern dance, jazz, and classical ballet. This form is often referred to as modern dance. Good technique is required to perform choreography, as the movements are sometimes difficult and precise. The origins of lyrical dance are unclear.
Lyrical Jazz is practiced by adults, adolescents and children. It is frequently seen many lyrical dances performed by dancers who at the age of 30 to 35 are considered too old for ballet.
Despite their possible lack of experience, many younger dancers are drawn to this style for its focus on emotion, characteristic of this dance style that flows with movements that are connected through music.
Upper body movements in general are quite different from ballet styles, and body angles are often seen, either unfamiliar to jazz or ballet. In a way, the upper body movements resemble traditional African dance forms. Lyrical dance is often performed with the toes stretched out and with leg raises.
Dance style where the basic technique of classical ballet is applied, accompanied by contraction and elongation movements, full of strength and lyrical sensuality, derived from the bodily sensations caused by contemporary blues and jazz music.
